PREVIOUSLY: Three teams prepared to take on the Physical Challenge. Who will the last two choose as their champion?
[After having heard the announcement, Cecil pipes up.]
Cecil: Can I do this one?
Bianca: What? Um, sure… why, though?
[Cecil looks to the side, looking a little… sheepish?]
Cecil: M-my dad… er, taught me how to fight a little. Back then.
Ettore: …I see. Wolves are naturally more physically capable than us humans, so it may be the wisest choice to pick you anyway.
Bianca: Isn’t it dangerous, though? What if he gets hurt?
[Ettore purses his lips.]
Ettore: If there are no medical facilities here then they may have the ingredients I need to apply first aid. Besides; do you think you or I can do any better if either one of us was to go?
Bianca: Oh. I guess not.
[The two look to Cecil, who’s been listening intently to their conversation. Bianca gives him a thumbs up, and Ettore nods at him.]
Cecil: …Thank you. I’ll try my best!
Bianca: Go get ’em.
Onyx: Follow me.
Wildfire: Wow, you can’t think of anything more creative to say?
Night: You know Onyx. He’s a straight shooter.
[The hockey team is still in the midst of their discussion. As Onyx returns to the room, Wind runs a hand through his dark hair, letting out a sigh. He begins to step towards the group.]
Ambrosia: Sir Wind? I know this game show’s taking a while, but it won’t be long before we can stretch our legs.
Wind: Not soon enough.
[He comes to a stop in front of Paige, glowering down at her from his height.]
Paige: Uh, hi? Sorry for the hold up. We’ll name our participant in just a moment.
Wind: Let me make things easier for you, little girl.
[Swerving towards Blake, he swings an arm around his waist and chucks the human over his shoulder.]
Blake: What the heck do you think you’re doing? Get your fr hands off of me!
Wind: If you cause me trouble, I’ll kill you.
[As he begins to head for the room of illusions, Chase’s eyes grow as wide as saucers, while Ambrosia moves to approach them.]
Ambrosia: Sir Wind! Please –
[Before she can come any closer, Wildfire jams an elbow into her side, drawing out a shuddering gasp from Ambrosia.]
Wildfire: Whoops, my bad.
[Before her victim can hit the ground, Onyx is at her side with an arm laced around her waist. Assured of her safety, Arsenik’s gaze flashes upon Wildfire. Rather than the usual gentle blue, his eyes are more like ice and steel.]
Arsenik: You disappoint me, Valkyrie. I already knew your standards were low, but to stoop so far as to side with a scoundrel like Imugi…if you were hoping to make me an enemy, there’s no surer way of succeeding.
Wildfire: Who’s siding with who? He just had the right idea on how to speed things up. Ambrosia was just in the way.
Colt: Wait a second! We’ll just choose someone else! You don’t need to kidnap anybody!
Chase: T-That’s right!
[Taking in shallow breaths, Ambrosia places a hand on Onyx’s plated chest, using it to steady herself.]
Onyx: Are you all right, Ambrosia?
Ambrosia: You have my appreciation, Sir Onyx, but please do not worry about me. We must recover Sir Blake!
[Her eyes search the room for Wind, but by then, he has already disappeared into the room of illusions with his captive. The dark swordsman releases Ambrosia and faces the team of hockey players.
Colt takes a step away from Paige, wary of the ever growing dark aura around her.]
Colt: Oh, this is not good…
Onyx: Who do you wish to send?
Chase: Come on, Onyx! Forget about the game show. We don’t have time for this.
Onyx: Wind of the Imugi is not likely to harm him.
Colt: See, Paige, it’s just part of the game. He’ll be fine!
Wildfire: Really? Wouldn’t bet on it. Given what his teammates were saying about him, he sounds like a real handful.
Colt: You are really not helping.
Onyx: They are required to send one member of their group to complete the challenge. It isn’t necessary for them to rescue a princess.
[Night gives a slow nod.]
Night: Yes, this does work better, given how many teams there are.
Chase: You two are crazy.
Onyx: We are only following the prince’s orders.
[He turns his head towards the group once more.]
[Paige responds with a humorless chuckle]
Paige: Decide? You sweep my partner right out from under me, and I’m just supposed to roll with the punches?
[Paige is slipping ever closer to losing her legendary violent temper. Colt looks to Jordan in desperation.]
Colt: Jordan, please say something to her.
Colt: Cause unless Paige is secretly a world class samurai ninja, these people are way out of her league. I don’t care how angry she gets.
Jordan: So you tell her.
Colt: she doesn’t listen to me like she does to you. You’re her goalie, remember?
[Jordan rubs the back of his neck, embarrassed.]
Jordan: It doesn’t sound as cool when you say it.
Jordan: Alright, just stop screaming in my ear.
[Jordan steps up and physically stops Paige from approaching any further by grabbing her wrist.]
Jordan: Paige, wait.
[She shifts her glare towards Jordan, but it doesn’t hold the same venom it did before.]
Jordan: You should go get Blake back. Play the game.
Paige: But they–!
Jordan: If you get worked up and out of control here, who’s going to rescue him? Your actions affect the whole team, remember?
[Paige clenches her fists until her knuckles turn white but quells her anger back to a manageable level by inhaling a deep breath.]
Paige: You’re right. I’ll save it for someone who really deserves it.
[She punches her open palm and nods towards Onyx and the rest of their hosts.]
Paige: Well, you win. I’m motivated enough to take on a dragon and a half.
Colt: Probably shouldn’t give them any more ideas. They took the last one pretty literally.
Arsenik: I understand you’re upset – and reasonably so – but please don’t group us all together with Imugi.
Paige: Just point me where I’m supposed to go.
[Onyx raises a finger in the direction of the room of illusions.]
Onyx: Wind of the Imugi should have taken Blake to the tower. Rescue him from there.
[Paige turns back to him confusion. Colt is filled with sudden apprehension and feeling a bit useless for not having the courage to go in the room himself. She walks back and playfully punches him in the abdomen to snap him out of his melancholy.]
Paige: What’s with the face? I can’t let you hog all the glory, Colt.
[He regains a bit of his smile when she casually lets him off the hook.]
Colt: Just be careful. This challenge seems a lot more dangerous than the last two.
[Jordan simply nods in agreement. Paige chuckles at their concern.]
Paige: Thanks, guys, but I’ve trained in some pretty crazy and creative ways. I’ll be alright.
Who could have seen this coming? Next week, the Physical Challenge really kicks off! Who will come out the victor?
